Hundreds of Somali government soldiers have deserted their military posts and are staging a go-slow in Baidoa to demand unpaid salaries, UN-funded Bar-Kulan reported Tuesday (March 12th).

Soldiers began abandoning front lines in Qansah Dere, Bardale and Gof Gaduud two days ago to raise their concerns.

Regional boss Abdi Adan Hosow has ordered all the soldiers to return to their posts while their grievances are addressed, and said plans are under way to return soldiers to their areas.
