Kenya's Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) pushed back the deadline for political parties to submit their final list of nominees for the March general election until Monday (January 21st) after primaries were beset with delays, Kenya's Capital FM reported.

The announcement came after several parties, including The National Alliance (TNA), the Wiper Democratic Alliance (WDA) and the United Republican Party (URP), extended their primaries an additional day because the late arrival of ballot materials and other complications prevented many people from casting ballots on Thursday.

"Those areas that did not get a chance to vote will get another day to do so," said URP chairman Francis ole Kaparo. "We have decided to give them extra time to do it tomorrow."
