Kenyan police discovered a weapons cache in the Nairobi suburb of Eastleigh early on Friday (September 14th), Kenya's Daily Nation reported.
The police arrested two Somali suspects and seized 12 grenades, six bombs, four AK-47 rifles, ammunition, six bullet-proof jackets and 30 kilograms of explosives.
Seizing the weapons prevented a major terrorist attack planned against Nairobi churches on Sunday, said Nairobi deputy police boss Moses Ombati. A church in Nairobi was attacked by grenades in April.
The Special Crime Prevention Unit began the operation, and later handed responsibility to the Anti Terrorism Police Unit.
