Two Kenyan soldiers who were among five who went missing last week after the capture of Miido from al-Shabaab are believed to be dead, Kenya's The Standard reported Thursday (September 6th).

Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) spokesman Colonel Cyrus Oguna said the two soldiers were likely taken to Kismayo by al-Shabaab. The bodies of the three other soldiers were recovered, he said.

Al-Shabaab posted pictures of slain soldiers on its Twitter account last week following a battle with African Union and Somali forces, claiming that the deceased were Kenyan soldiers. Oguna did not confirm whether the missing soldiers were among those pictured.

Oguna condemned the posting of the pictures, saying it was further proof that Kenya's effort to rid Somalia of al-Shabaab is a worthy cause. "This is an outward sign of al-Shabaab's inhumane face and the extent of their barbaric character," he said.

Kenyans lets pray for our fellow Kenyans who are in battle field. Their families and friends are having sleepless nights on this. Let`s respect the dead and consider the suffering of the relatieves. Refer to the KDF spokesmans warning on posting images of the unproofed kiling.
