United Nations Special Representative to Somalia Augustine Mahiga on Monday (August 6th) called on Somali leaders to finish the remaining tasks of ending the transitional period by August 20th.
"Time is pressing. The process cannot afford any more delays," Mahiga said in a statement. "Now that these discussions are done, I urge all parties to focus all their energy on completing the remaining tasks on time, as they have publically committed to do."
Mahiga also welcomed the communiqué issued on Monday in Nairobi by signatories of the Roadmap, reiterating the need to end the transitional period on time, and issued a warning to end intimidation and bribery in parliamentary selection.
