The Djiboutian parliament's committee on legislation and general administration recommended on Saturday (August 4th) that the national assembly pass a bill establishing a police academy, Djibouti's La Nation reported.
The committee, chaired by Mohamed Abdoulkader Mohamed, debated the bill drafted by the government, which proposes the creation of a centre for training and preparation for Djibouti's future police officers.
The new academy would focus on a modern, decentralised approach to security, engaging in research and development, and preparing officers to use community policing techniques to bolster the jurisdiction of local officials.
