A delegation visiting Somalia from the United Arab Emirates has expressed support for the ratification of Somalia's new constitution, the UAE's official WAM news agency reported Saturday (August 4th).

"The convening of this international meeting in Mogadishu is of great importance as it reflects the significant progress that has been made by the Somalis and the international community to restore peace and security in the country," said Assistant Foreign Minister for Security and Military Affairs Faris al-Mazroui, who headed the delegation. "The UAE is ready to support the leadership in Somalia at this important time."

This was the first official delegation from the UAE to travel to Somalia in over a decade.
