Somali Minister of Interior and National Security Abdisamad Moallim Mohamud said Thursday (August 2nd) that the Transitional Federal Government has full control of Mogadishu's security, Somalia's Shabelle Media Network reported.
"Somali security forces are at this time more vigilant than in the past. They have secured the capital and stopped many deadly attacks against government institutions and army bases in Mogadishu by al-Shabaab," he said.
Security forces on Wednesday foiled two suicide bombers targeting the National Constituent Assembly as it ratified the new Somali constitution. The suicide bombers were killed when they detonated their explosive vests outside the building.
Mogadishu has been under Somali government control since al-Shabaab withdrew from the city in August of 2011.
