The Kenya Highway Authority (KENHA) will close several main roadways in Nairobi while a new road is constructed in southern part of the city, Kenya's Daily Nation reported Sunday (July 29th).

KENHA will completely close Community, Kibera and Ngong Roads, or reduce access to them, for the next six months, according to KENHA Director-General Mishack Kidenda. He said motorists should use the alternative routes provided to access Langata Road.

The roads will be closed to make way for the construction of a southern by-pass in Nairobi, which aims to reduce road congestion in the capital.

Nairobi Metropolitan minister Jamlek Irungu Kamau said Nairobi is undergoing a series of infrastructure improvements. The projects include road repairs and installation of streetlights in some markets.

The World Bank has loaned Kenya $600 million (50.5 billion shillings) to improve services. About half of the sum is earmarked for the Nairobi Metropolitan Services Improvement Project, which aims to strengthen infrastructure in the capital region.

This is the way forward towards vision 2030. Let all Kenyans support this development irrespective of their political/parties affiliation. Bravo government.
