A Garissa court on Friday (July 20th) charged Moses Nzalu Kethakio in connection with the July 1st attacks on the African Inland Church and the Catholic Central Cathedral, which killed 17 people and injured more than 60 others.
Principal Magistrate John Onyiego charged Kethakio, 27, with killing two police officers and stealing their guns and ammunition, as well as being a member of al-Shabaab. Kethakio pleaded not guilty.
Court Prosecutor Samuel Karigitho told Sabahi that the court granted a police request to deny the suspect bail to allow for further interrogation, as Kethakio had only been arrested the day before.
Kethakio may face other charges when his court case resumes on September 24th. "More charges will be placed against him," Karigitho said.
