Galgadud, administered by the pro-government militia Ahlu Sunna wal Jamaa, has come under the authority of the Somali Transitional Federal Government, UN-funded Radio Bar-Kulan reported Monday (July 16th).
After consultations between the government and the militia, the two sides agreed to transform the current administration into a regional authority, effective immediately. Ahmed Yussuf Hassan has been appointed regional governor, while Sadaq Sheikh Hussein has been appointed as his deputy in charge of security.
Abdirahman Geda-Qorow was appointed Dusamareb district commissioner, with Hassan Abdi Alas named district commissioner for Abudwak, Osman Isse Tarduled for Guriel and Hirad Hashi Ali for Balanbal.
