Somali Defence Minister Hussein Arab Isse chaired a meeting with government officials to discuss security in Mogadishu on Thursday (June 28th), Somalia's Shabelle Media Network reported.
The meeting focused on increasing security measures in the capital, according to Banadir administration spokesman Mohammed Yusuf. "With help of the Somali people and national security agencies, we are going to terminate the insecurity acts in the capital," he said.
Officials say Mogadishu has become safer since the removal of al-Shabaab from the nearby Afgoye corridor last month, as the militants no longer have a base nearby from which to launch attacks.
