A delegation of Puntland officials visited the Bari region on Thursday (June 7th) to meet with local leaders to discuss security issues, UN-funded Radio Bar-Kulan reported.
The eight officials, led by regional governor Abdisamad Mohamed Gallan, visited the town of Bargal, where there has been a crackdown on Somali pirates.
Gallan told reporters the delegation will hold talks with tribal elders to chart a path forward to maintain peace and stop piracy in the area.
Puntland security forces have been conducting security operations to wipe out Somali pirates from the coastal region of Bari.
