A third group of Djiboutian soldiers arrived in the Somali town of Beledweyne on Sunday (June 3rd) as part of AMISOM's security operation, UN-funded Radio Bar-Kulan reported.
The 100 soldiers will join two Djiboutian contingents that arrived last week. A total of 850 soldiers will be in place by the end of the week, said Colonel Osman Dubbad, AMISOM's officer in Beledweyne.
The Djiboutian troops will provide support to Somali security forces in Beledweyne and the Hiraan region. The deployment is also part of broader efforts to expand AMISOM's reach and ability to secure territories captured from al-Shabaab, the news agency reported.
