Somalia's Transitional Federal Government (TFG) issued an appeal on Monday (May 14th) to the international community for support in implementing the Roadmap.

"Despite the challenges encountered, the government has shown leadership and commitment to deliver results in this critical time while traditional elders are convened to help chart out the future of Somalia," the TFG said. "Efforts of the government have also shown results as Somali people expressed confidence in the performance of their government. That created expectations in which the government cannot meet without the support of the international community."

The TFG called on donors to fulfil their pledges to the government, saying "efforts of the government should be coupled with an equal amount of support to ensure funds are allocated and remaining tasks of the Roadmap are implemented".

The government's statement also noted that meetings are being held around the country with tribes and other stakeholders to reach negotiated, peaceful resolutions to conflicts.
