The women's volleyball Africa Club Championships begin this week in Kenya, with defending champions Kenya Prisons gearing up to win its fourth title, Kenya's Daily Nation reported on Monday (May 7th).
Kenya will be represented by three clubs -- Prisons, Pipeline and Kenya Commercial Bank -- and the host teams are all expected to dominate the tournament.
"The past three years we have had Kenyan teams dominating," Kenya Volleyball Federation official Evans Wasike said, according to Business Daily Africa. "We expect the local girls to put their best foot forward and we are confident that they will do well, but we are also wary of the threat posted by other teams, especially the North Africans."
Prisons head coach David Lung'aho told the Daily Nation, "The girls are motivated, but it will be tough for us, now that we are the defending champions. Many teams will want to stop us from winning our fourth title."
