High level officials from Djibouti and Somaliland met on Monday (May 7th) to enhance diplomatic relations and discuss ways to strengthen economic, security and development-related ties, Somaliland Foreign Minister Mohamed Abdullahi Omar said after the meeting.
Djiboutian President Ismail Omar Guelleh hosted the Somaliland foreign minister, Djiboutian Foreign Affairs Minister Mohamed Ali Yusuf, and Somaliland Interior Minister Mohamed Nuur Araale at the presidential palace.
The meeting took place days after two Djiboutian cabinet ministers were turned back at Somaliland's Lughaya border in an incident Somaliland officials attributed to poor communications.
Omar carried a personal message from Somaliland President Ahmed Mohamed Silanyo, which he delivered to Guelleh. The contents of the message were not released.
The two sides also reportedly discussed security and political issues related to the Horn of Africa as well as the role Somaliland can play regionally.

Too short and not much details. Why were the ministers turned back? What does it mean to say lack of communication? What are the security concerns involved in all this?
