Somaliland Vice President Abdirahman Abdullahi Ismail (Saylici) officially opened a new terminal at Hargeisa International Airport on Wednesday (May 2nd), the Somaliland Press reported.
Construction began in 2010 and included lengthening the existing runway, building a 1.7-kilometre taxiway, a cargo apron and a terminal to handle additional passengers, Ismail said.
"The largest types of passenger and cargo aircraft will now be able to land at this airport," Ismail said. "This presents enormous opportunities for trade and investments."
The vice president urged residents of Somaliland to take advantage of investment opportunities "so that the expanded airports can be used to better the lives of the people".
