Prime Minister Abdiweli Mohamed Ali visited on Monday (April 30th) the venue where the constitutional meeting for tribal elders will be held in Mogadishu, UN-funded Radio Bar-Kulan reported.
The meeting's planners and security team briefed Ali, cabinet ministers and Speaker of Parliament Sharif Hassan Sheikh Aadan on the preparations. At the convention, 135 tribal elders will select the National Constituent Assembly that will be charged with ratifying the new draft constitution.
Last week, al-Shabaab threatened to attack the gathering, describing the new constitution as un-Islamic, but AMISOM vowed not to let al-Shabaab disrupt the process.
