Tanzania's Simba football club moved closer to securing a place in the quarter-finals of Africa's Confederation Cup with a 3-0 home win over Sudan's al-Ahly Shandy on Sunday (April 29th).
Haruna Moshu, Patrick Mafisango and Emmanuel Okwi scored all three goals in the second half of the match at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam. A score of "1-1 would have been a fair result, but in the end we got this big win," Simba coach Milovan Circovic told the BBC. "In Sudan, we will defend our lead; I am sure we will go through."
Simba is the only East African team still in the running in this year's Confederation Cup competition. Sunday's match was the first of two games, with the team that wins both games moving on.
