Traffic at Djibouti's Doraleh port is up 126%, with growth fuelled by demand for foods and an increase in volume for land-locked Ethiopia, Djibouti's official La Nation reported on Wednesday (April 25th).

The port processed nearly 156,000 containers in the final quarter of 2011 as compared with 69,000 containers during the same period of 2010. The port processes shipments primarily for Djibouti, which recorded a 21% increase in goods moving through the port, and Ethiopia, which saw a 70% increase.

The volume of goods exiting Djibouti's port has also risen, with bulk shipments up by more than 3% in the fourth quarter of 2011, compared with the same period the year before.
