Galkayo police arrested a man in possession of a large amount of explosives on Wednesday morning (April 25th), Somalia's Garowe Online reported.
The unidentified man was apprehended near Omar Samatar Secondary School and a municipal headquarters in Galkayo, said Mudug police chief Colonel Jama Mohamed Ahmed.
The man was from southern Somalia, but Ahmed declined to say whether he is suspected to be a member of al-Shabaab because the investigation was still in its early stages.
Ahmed urged residents to report suspicious activities to police, who conduct regular foot patrols in Galkayo to keep crime rates down.
