Seven Kenyans were killed on Sunday (April 22nd) when flash floods hit Hell's Gate National Park in Naivasha, AFP reported.

"The seven people had gone missing just before dusk, when the group encountered sudden flash floods," the Kenya Wildlife Service said in a statement. The victims were part of a church youth group and were in the park on a walking safari.

Hell's Gate is located 75 kilometres northwest of Nairobi.

Kenya's rainy season between March and May has been known to cause flash floods and internal displacement across the country. At least eight people perished earlier this month in a Nairobi slum when their homes were destroyed by boulders after a night of heavy rainfall.
