At least two people died and five were injured on Sunday (April 5th) when two explosions hit a market in Garbaharey in the Gedo region, UN-funded Radio Bar-Kulan reported.

Ahlu Sunna wal Jamaa (ASWJ) spokesman Mohamed Hussein al-Qadi said the pro-government militia is investigating the incident, pledging to bring the perpetrators to justice.

No group has claimed responsibility, but Mohamud Sayid Adam, a lawmaker in Garbaharey, believes the attack was the work of al-Qaeda-allied al-Shabaab, the Somali National News Agency (SONNA) reported.

Al-Shabaab launched a surprise attack on the town last month, killing two military officials and wounding several others.

Remotely controlled landmines likely caused the explosions, as well as three other roadside attacks took place on Sunday, SONNA reported, adding that the Transitional Federal Government has held at least 20 suspects since the blasts.

Garbaharey is a major stronghold for Ethiopian forces, supporting the Somali government troops and ASWJ. The town has been under Ethiopian control for almost a year.

A large number of martyrs have fallen from the first day terrorism came and the people have suffered a great deal because of terrorists many of people sons have been taken, women, children, men, and elderly, this is all because of the terrorists acts. Because of terrorism, many of them have become disabled with a permanent disability. Terrorism did not exclude anyone. This disability has impeded them from their right to a full life, to no fault of their own except that they are simple people who were looking for work and who venture onto the street in search of food for their children. Terrorism has orphaned many children who lost their fathers or mothers in explosions in civilian areas; did they not think about how these children will live without their parents and did they not think of what fault the parents committed to meet their end and die for no reason, but terrorism does not care about anything, it is concerned only with destruction and killing because this is its way, which has become clear to the whole world.
