Somali leaders gathered in Galkayo on Monday (March 26th) to discuss accelerating the implementation of the Roadmap, elections for the new parliament and drafting the new constitution, UN-funded Radio Bar-Kulan reported.

Somali President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, Prime Minister Abdiweli Mohamed Ali, Speaker of Parliament Sharif Hassan Sheikh Aadan and officials from Puntland, Galmudug and Ahlu Sunna wal Jamaa attended the meeting, as did members of the international community, including UN envoy Augustine Mahiga, the Somali National News Agency reported.

The Roadmap, signed September 6th, 2011, is an agreement between the Somali Transitional Federal Government (TFG) and autonomous administrations outlining plans for the end of the TFG mandate this August, dealing with security, reconciliation, the constitution and parliamentary reforms.

The president and prime minister were expected to visit south Galkayo later on Monday, where they planned to hold talks with Galmudug Vice President Abdisamed Noor Guleid, Radio Bar-Kulan reported.
