The Somali Transitional Federal Government will quickly appoint administrations for regions recently liberated from al-Shabaab, Prime Minister Abdiweli Mohamed Ali announced on Sunday (March 11th).
Ali asked local elders and residents of those regions to co-operate with Somali troops to ensure security, Somalia's official Sonna News Agency reported.
Abdelfitah Hassan Afrah, former president of the Doha Shabelle Administration in the Hiraan region, is expected to be nominated to chair the Hiraan regional administration, as he was part of the military operation that freed Beledweyne from al-Shabaab control, the news agency reported.
During an interview with Radio Mogadishu, Former District Commissioner of Beledweyne Mohamed Ahmed Dhegawayne called for the government to quickly establish new leadership for Hiraan province.
