A multi-agency task force will assess progress in cases involving the 2008 post-election violence, Kenyan Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko announced on Thursday (February 9th).
"The team is mandated to undertake a countrywide review and evaluation of all post election-related cases pending under investigations and those under trial," Tobiko said in statement published by Kenya's Capital FM News.
The 20-member task force, headed by Senior Deputy Prosecution Counsel Dorcas Oduor, includes agencies involved in investigating pending cases, such as the police department, the Ministry of Justice, the attorney general's office and the office of the director of public prosecutions.
The team is expected to write a report to guide police investigations into more than 5,000 cases Attorney General Githu Muigai said are still under investigation.
